Methodology

In class

The MFA stretches over 800 hours, divided in 680 hours of traditional lessons and 120 hours of Project Work. The lessons will take place in the Aula Magna and the Library of the IPE. The MAF is characterized by the alternation between university professors and operators from the management, economics and finance world. The hours of traditional lessons combine theory and practical applications. Through case studies, applications of specialized software and financial models in Microsoft Excel, the student will be put in the position to acquire technical proficiencies immediately useful for the job-market. Generally, practical applications consist in the creation of 4-5 groupwork in class.

After a theoretical introduction by the teacher, each group has a few hours to create and implement a project. At the end of the day, each group will present its project and comment its key results. Lessons are daily and alternate between 4 hour-a-day and 8-hour-a-day lessons. An individual, constant and deep study is required during the whole study course, especially outside of the classroom. The master is full-time and thus is not compatible with other work activities.

Project Work

The project work consists in drafting a report on any topic among those present in the MAF modules. The objective of the project work is to stimulate students in creating a useful research for the investigation of the chosen topic.
This research will permit:
a) the development of a specific competence in the finance sector
b) the development of a competence easily spendable on work
c) the development of a greater ability in teamworking

The project work will be evaluated by the MFA scientific committee and will be graded on the basis of the following criteria:
- work originality
- use of analytical tools
- relevance of the chosen topic

During the last day of the MAF, each group will present the key findings of their project.

Alumni Days

In every MFA edition , previous mfa graduates present  a lecture to the class regarding their work experiences in the finance and management world.

Study materials

Didactic material will be prepared by every single teacher, as: presentations, articles and papers. This material will be published in the intranet section of the website and is available, with a personalized password, only to the students admitted at the MAF. Usually, the material is available the day before the lecture, in order to put the student in the condition to study the lesson in advance each time. Moreover, advanced book and manuals will be indicated, in order to permit a systematic and deep study of the MAF modules’ topics. During the Master, the Didactic committee will provide every single student with articles of interest. This material will be available at the Library and will be distributed, once the Master ends, in a CD-ROM.
